Two of the album’s tracks, “Emu ~For My Dear~” (絵夢〜for my dear〜, “Emu ~For My Dear~”) and “U+K” were dedicated to the memory of the late Kami, the drummer of Malice Mizer, and a close friend of Gackt’s. Gackt had been on tour at the time of his passing, and was unable to attend his funeral as he was unaware of the tragedy until a week later when he returned from travels.
This, in my personal opinion, its not one of Gackts best albums. In fact, its actually my least favorite. But I was sent it as a gift, and I still thoroughly enjoyed listening to it as I am a major fan of Gackt. But if you’re looking in to checking him out, I would not reccomend this album. I’d reccomend you check out one of his later works. I shall be reviewing his “Diabolos” album at a later stage. [Originally released in 2005, released to Europe in 2007] This is his newest album, excluding the release of “0079-0088,” themed for “Mobile Suit Gundam” which was also released towards the end of 2006. To choose my personal favorite song off of this album, it would be “Vanilla.”
Mars is Gackt’s first full-length solo record. Before Mars, he released an EP called “Mizerable.” “Mizerable” was his first release after leaving the band, “MALICE MIZER.”
The vocals of “Ares” are not in any actual language, though the album’s booklet provides lyrics for the song.
