Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto – Natsu no Sora
Things That Are Precious To a Mage
This anime seems pretty slow paced. If you’re looking for a show thats pretty laid back, not action packed, I’d highly reccommend it. Many people aren’t fond of the animation style, or the shows slow paced-ness. But thats up to you. You can make your own mind up about its animation from the images, as for the plot, you can keep reading reviews, or find out for yourself. It is definatley, a slow paced show. So if you don’t like that stuff, this show probably isn’t for you. For the animation, its part photographs that look kinda like they tried to make them cartoony, and half cartoony drawn. Which some people might really hate. I personally dislike it. When it came on, I was a little like, wtf? Is this an anime or a drama? Did I read wrong somewhere?
Its based in modern Tokyo and places are mostly real.
This is the first thing you see.

Looks pretty real. Aye? Pretty sure its a photograph.
In this episode, basically, a girl called Sora leaves the city to start “magic school.” Some basic characters are introduced. We meet the girl, her mother, her dog; John, and her best friend. A similar character pops up in the next episode which caused some confusion for me, originally.
We discover that her father seems to have passed away or something. Or maybe he got Magicked in to a tree, as Sora seems to talk to a tree in her home town as her “father” when she discovers she has been accepted to the magic academy, and her training place has been decided. From then, she will travel from Biei to Tokyo and start living in the city for school.
Again, the slow pacedness comes in now, as she doesn’t even leave her town until near the end of the episode.
Here is Sora! Shes our main character.

This is her glomping her mother. Funny, is it me or did her hair all of a sudden go from ass length to mid back. Hrmm.

And this is her with her “father.” [?]

She decides to try and help her best friend with a guy, and uses her magic to create snow. The guy is moving away, but always wanted to see a winter in Biei, which I think is rather sweet.
Here is Sora with her best friend. Aww.

And here is that best friend confessing to a guy with the snow that Sora made. Aww again.

Towards the end of the Episode, Sora gets a lift out of her town to the airport, and the show closes with her getting on the plane.
There are only two things that I dislike about this show. The inconsistant animation style, which really does take some getting used to, and the fact that even if the characters smile, there expression still looks kinda the same. If you’ve ever watched Kyouran Kazoku Nikki, you’ll know what I mean.
I decided to drop this series. Apparently the plot doesn’t get any better.
